Grants Management Specialist

The Grants Management Specialist is in the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA), Veterans Health Administration (VHA), at the Birmingham VA Health Care System (BVAHCS) in the Research Service. The incumbent provides administrative support for the Associate Chief of Staff for Research (ACOS) and the Administrative Officer (AO) for Research at the BVAHCS.

**Qualifications:**
To qualify for this position, you must meet the following requirements. Specialized Experience: You must have at least one (1) full year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level in the Federal service that includes serving as a Grants Coordinator preparing, reviewing , and submission of each research proposal; assuring that all proposals are administratively and technically correct, including documentation to ensure the availability and approval of necessary resources, space, personnel, and equipment and budgetary requirements. This experience must be detailed in your resume to receive credit. OR Substitution of Education: Successfully completed a master's or equivalent degree or successful completion of two (2) full years (18 semester hours is usually the equivalent of one full year) of progressively higher-level graduate education from an accredited institution leading to such a degree or a LL.B. or J.D. if related. OR Combination of Education & Experience: Equivalent combinations of successfully completed graduate level education and specialized experience, as described above, which meet the total experience requirements for this grade level. Only education in excess of the amount required for the next lower grade level is qualifying.
