Job Description
The Engineering Laboratory (EL) promotes U.S. innovation and industrial competitiveness by advancing measurement science, standards, and technology for engineered systems in ways that enhance economic security and improve quality of life. As the Executive Officer and senior administrative advisor to the Operating Unit (OU) Director and Deputy Director, the incumbent provides expert strategic counsel to enable high-visibility mission requirements with national impact.
**Qualifications:**
Applicants must possess one year (52 weeks) of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-14 (ZA-IV at NIST). Specialized experience is described as experience serving as a management advisor for day-to-day budget and financial issues; providing authoritative advice to management on critical development and implementation phases; and conducting detailed analyses of complex work processes and making recommendations for improving the efficiency and effectiveness of work operations. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
