Job Description
You will serve as a Meteorologist in the Fleet Numerical Meteorology and Oceanography Center (FNMOC) of FLT NUMER OCEANGPHY METEO CTR.
**Qualifications:**
(For GS 12) In addition to the Basic Requirements for this position, your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Resume must show the following specialized experience: Experience implementing theoretical meteorology, to include but not limited to the dynamics of the atmosphere, mesoscale meteorology and the application of computer methods of numerical weather analysis and prediction. Experience utilizing theories such as but not limited to air-sea interaction theory, methods and techniques of professional meteorology. Experience observing platforms and the algorithms used to produce environmental estimates and derived METOC products. Experience working with METOC satellites, their sensors, the algorithms used to produce environmental estimates, and the METOC products derived from satellite data. Experience using statistical methods and standard techniques for post-processing and evaluating atmospheric numerical analysis and forecast products. Experience employing advanced programming language such as FORTRAN, PERL, or Python, an advanced operating system such as LINUX, software configuration management, and visualization of large scientific data sets. Experience managing software engineering techniques as applied to the development and maintenance of automated, real-time systems. Experience using both written and oral communication to address the public effectively address technical issues.
