Job Description

This position is part of the Southwestern Indian Polytechnic Institute (SIPI), Bureau of Indian Education (BIE), Department of the Interior (DOI). As a Dean of Advanced Technology Education you will be responsible for providing supervisory and leadership duties to the Advanced Technology Education Department.

**Qualifications:**
Applicants must meet the OPM approved alternative qualification requirements for professional instructor positions classified in the GS-1701 General Education and Training Series at Southwestern Indian Polytechnic Institute. For this position, they are listed below. BASIC REQUIREMENTS FOR SUPV INSTRUCTORS, GS-1701-12: Degree: Master's degree in education administration or in a subject matter field appropriate to the position (typically a master's degree in the specialty fields of instruction within the Advanced Technology Education Department, such as Culinary Arts, Engineering, Natural Resources, Geography, Environmental Science, and Computer Science). In addition to meeting the Basic Requirement, you must also meet the Minimum Qualifications requirements below. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Experience that equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled. To be creditable, specialized experience must have been equivalent to at least the next lower grade level in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. GS-12: Applicant meets the basic education requirement and possess one (1) year of specialized experience. This experience must be related to the work of the position and equivalent to at least the GS-11 level in the Federal service. Examples include: serving as a postsecondary education administrator leading faculty and staff in a college/university environment; analyze college/university department needs and develop budget proposals; planning and developing curricula and training materials for college/university courses; establishing and interpreting performance standards related to post-secondary education; and utilizing academic records for college/university program assessment and evaluation. Time-In-Grade Requirements: Merit Promotion (status) candidates must have completed one year (52 weeks) of service at the next lower grade level. Learn more about what is time-in grade.
