Job Description

This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Domestic Defense Industrial Base Facilities & the Major Range and Test Facilities Base to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service. About the Position: Position serves as a Sheet Metal Mechanic at Pine Bluff Arsenal in Pine Bluff Arkansas.

You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. There is no specific length of training or experience required. However, you must be able to demonstrate, through experience shown in your written application materials that you possess the sufficient knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the work of this position without more than normal supervision. Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of a(n) Sheet Metal Mechanic ~ without more than normal supervision. Duties such as cutting, bending and forming metal parts into desired shapes with hand and power tools and equipment; assembling and fastening fabricated parts by riveting, bolting, screwing, seaming, and welding; and using cutting and welding torches.- Failure to meet this Screen out Element will result in an ineligible rating. Work requires standing, stooping, kneeling, crawling, reaching and often times working from ladders and scaffolds; often lifting objects weighing 50 lbs. and more; and often working in awkward and cramped positions for long periods of time. Performs work indoors and outdoors, from extreme hot to extreme cold, from clean areas to extra-hot and dirty areas. Incumbent is exposed to possible injury from burns, falls, strains, cuts and bruises. Employees working in asbestos are frequently required to wear respiratory protection, coveralls, disposable outer garments, gloves and safety boots or shoes. The level of protective equipment is dependent on the measured exposures or operational needs.
