Job Description

You will serve as a RIGGER SUPERVISOR I in the RIGGING BRANCH (CODE 741), RIGGING and OPERATIONS DIVISION, LIFTING and HANDLING DEPARTMENT, of PORTSMOUTH NAVAL SHIPYARD.

Although a specific length of time and experience is not required for most trade and labor occupations, you must show through experience and training that you possess the quality level of knowledge and skill necessary to perform the duties of the position at the level for which you are applying. Qualification requirements emphasis is on quality of experience, not necessarily the length of time. Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the job elements and screen out listed below. This job has a screen-out element which will be used to determine minimum eligibility for this job. Applicants who do not receive a minimum of two points on the screen-out element(s) will be found ineligible. The Screen-out Element for this position is: ABILITY TO LEAD OR SUPERVISE * Assigning work to each person based on ability and experience to ensure that assignments are properly completed. * Directing work of subordinates and resolving difficulties as they occur. * Ensuring regulations are adhered to and introducing the necessary corrective action when a deviation occurs. * Reassigning or redirecting the work to obtain maximum efficiency from a group. * Planning work operation including obtaining and reviewing all applicable paperwork such as blueprints, Test Memorandum (TM), Design Memorandums (DM), Production engineering Memorandums (PEM), Nuclear Power Engineering Authorizations (NPEA) and process instructions.
