Job Description
You will serve as a Sheet Metal Mechanic (Aircraft) in the MRO Production Department of FLEET READINESS CENTER SOUTHWEST.

Qualification requirements emphasis is on quality of experience, not necessarily the length of time. Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the job elements and screen out listed below. This job has a screen-out element which will be used to determine minimum eligibility for this job. Applicants who do not receive a minimum of two points on the screen-out element(s) will be found ineligible. The Screen-out Element for this position is: ABILITY TO DO THE WORK OF THE POSITION WITHOUT MORE THAN NORMAL SUPERVISION, and includes the following: 1) Accomplishing aircraft sheet metal mechanic duties, which include repairs and fabrications on various aircrafts; 2) Performing metal repair, fabrication, planning, laying out, designing, assembling, and dissembling of aircraft and associated components; 3) Utilizing techniques and/or methods to assemble metal systems for assigned aircraft; 4) Utilizing the ability to recognize size bolts, screws, rivets, and all fasteners associated with the aircraft trade; 5) Analyzing and troubleshooting aircraft metal structures and components to determine repairs or replacements; 6) Assisting in the development of solutions for metal fabrication, repair and modification issues; 7) Serving as a technical expert for sheet metal repairs and modifications for aircraft systems and associated components; 8) Reading and interpreting technical drawings, blue prints, and schematics for aircraft sheet metal work; and 9) Assisting in mentoring and training for lower level mechanics and personnel in support of agency goals and objectives.
