Information about El Centro and Barstow areas can be found at El Centro and Barstow. We expect to fill 3 positions each for both El Centro and Barstow. Note: These are not Law Enforcement positions.
**Qualifications:**
In order to be rated as qualified for this position, we must be able to determine that you meet the qualification requirements - please be sure to include this information in your resume. No assumptions will be made about your experience. To qualify for the GS-07 grade level, applicants must have one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-06 level in the Federal service, or comparable experience outside the Federal service. Specialized experience is defined as experience that demonstrates: Engaging with the public to provide information on Off-Highway Vehicle (OHV) recreation, including responsible use, land use plan regulations, permit compliance, and public safety; Monitoring OHV use areas and addressing non-compliance through education and appropriate referral to supervisors or law enforcement personnel; Installing and maintaining OHV-related signage, including route markers, open/closed area designations, and protected areas such as Wilderness and Areas of Critical Environmental Concern (ACECs); Assisting with or responding to OHV-related incidents or emergency situations in accordance with established procedures; Developing and delivering OHV-focused interpretive and outreach programs, such as safety demonstrations, educational booths, and public engagement events; Supporting the operation and management of OHV recreation areas, including coordinating with staff to ensure coverage during peak visitation periods. Experience must demonstrate the ability to perform these duties with increasing independence and responsibility. -OR- Education: 1 full academic year of graduate education related to the occupation OR superior academic achievement. - OR- Combination of Education and Experience: You may meet qualifications requirement for this position with an equivalent combination of specialized experience and appropriate graduate education. Graduate level education must demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of this position. Superior Academic Achievement (See OPM's General Policies, Application of Qualification Standards Section 4.f.) S.A.A. must have been gained in a curriculum that is qualifying for the position to be filled. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. You must meet all qualification requirements by the closing date of the announcement. Physical Demands: The work is performed mostly outdoors in rugged terrain; to include very steep, wet, muddy, rough, uneven or rocky surfaces. The position requires physical exertion such as, but not limited to, driving over unpaved roads, walking over rough terrain or inclines, standing for long periods of time, bending, crouching and stooping, digging, hiking, lifting, biking, stretching, reaching, or similar activities. Work may involve early morning hours, night hours, or daytime hours and may require working on holidays. It can require carrying heavy backpacks, tools, rescue equipment, or other loads. Work Environment: Most work will be performed out of doors, in all types of weather conditions, terrain, and elevations. Work may take place in an extremely remote environment and may require primitive camping and living skills for upwards of two weeks in duration. Indoor duties are performed in a normal office setting.
