Job Description
This position serves as an advance technician for outpatient care settings such as; primary care, mental health, and specialty clinics. As an ICT Generalist the incumbent may serve in a medical center, community-based outpatient clinic (CBOC), mobile medical unit or may have virtual/remote assignments.

ENGLISH LANGUAGE PROFICIENCY: In accordance with 38 U.S.C. 7402(d), No person shall serve in direct patient care positions unless they are proficient in basic written and spoken English. Individual Occupational Requirement (IOR): Per the Office of Personnel Management (OPM), there is an Individual Occupational Requirement (IOR) Specialized Experience (for positions at GS-4 and above): Positions in this series range widely in type and include support duties to medical or health personnel such as audiologists, speech pathologists, medical officers, and optometrists. Therefore, technician experience is experience that required application of the knowledge, methods, and techniques of the position to be filled. GS-05 QUALIFICATIONS: Special Expereince: I have (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level (GS-04) in the Federal Service that has given me the particular knowledge, skills and abilities required to successfully perform the duties of this Intermediate Care Technician position. Specialized experience includes: knowledge of the major body systems; knowledge of topographic anatomy; knowledge of diagnostic signs; knowledge of equipment and supplies. OR Education: I have successfully completed a full 4-year course of study leading to a bachelor's degree, with major study or at least 24 semester hours in subjects directly related to the position. OR Combination Education and Expereince: I have equivalent combinations of creditable specialized experience and education as described above to meet the total experience requirements for the position. GS-06 QUALIFICATIONS: Special Expereince: I have (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level (GS-05) in the Federal Service that has given me the particular knowledge, skills and abilities required to successfully perform the duties of this Intermediate Care Technician position. Specialized experience includes: knowledge of the major body systems; knowledge of topographic anatomy; knowledge of diagnostic signs; skill in communication techniques and the operation of communications equipment to be able to accurately obtain and relay information to and from health care providers; knowledge of equipment and supplies. Education: I do NOT possess the experience as described in the above. GS-07 QUALIFICATIONS: Special Expereince: I have (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level (GS-06) in the Federal Service that has given me the particular knowledge, skills and abilities required to successfully perform the duties of this Intermediate Care Technician position. Specialized experience includes: knowledge of the major body systems knowledge of topographic anatomy; knowledge of diagnostic signs; skill in communication techniques and the operation of communications equipment to be able to accurately obtain and relay information to and from health care providers; knowledge of equipment and supplies; knowledge of the components of suicide risk assessment, warning signs, environmental safety and referral. OR Education: I have successfully completed one (1) year of graduate education related to the position at the next lower grade level. This education must have been obtained in an accredited college or university. One year of full-time graduate education is considered to be the number of credit hours that the school attended has determined to represent one (1) year of full-time study. If that number cannot be obtained from the school, 18 semester hours will be considered an academic year of graduate study. Part-time graduate education is creditable in accordance with its relationship to a year of full-time study at the school attended. OR Combination Education and Expereince: I have equivalent combinations of creditable specialized experience and education as described above to meet the total experience requirements for the position. This education must have been obtained in an accredited college or university. Only education beyond a one-half year (e.g. 6 months; 9 semester hours) of graduate level education may be used to qualify applicants for the GS-07 level. NOTE: If using education combined with specialized experience to qualify, a copy of your transcript is required. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religions; spiritual; community; student; social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
