The primary purpose of this position is to assist with the oversight and coordinate specialized developmental care for children 6 weeks to 5 years of age in the child development program.
**Qualifications:**
Conditions of Employment continued: This position has been identified as having "regular contact with children". In accordance with (IAW) Public Law 101- 647 Section 231, Public Law 102-190, Section 1094, and DoD Instruction 1402.05, background checks are required. DD Form 2981 Basic Criminal History and Statement of Admission, Installation Records Check, FBI fingerprint, and Tier 1 with a State Criminal History Repository (SCHR) checks will be completed on any person selected for this position. Renewal every five years of the Installation Records, FBI Fingerprint and SCHR is required with annual review of DD Form 2981. Physical required: Work requires walking, standing, bending, stooping, kneeling, reaching, lifting/carrying children and moderate physical exertion as well as standing for long periods of time. The incumbent works in a child development facility and may be required to rearrange furniture and lift/carry children weighing up to 40 pounds. QUALIFICATIONS: In order to qualify, you must meet the general experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions, Administrative and Management Positions. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Applicants must have at least one (1) year of specialized experience at the next lower broadband N-J01, equivalent to the next to lower grade GS-04 or equivalent in the Federal Service. Specialized experience must include performing basic oversight and supervision for a designated classroom for children ages 6 weeks through 5 years. Assisted with the design and implementation of a variety of activity plans to stimulate and sustain the interest of children and to contribute to their social, emotional, cognitive, and physical development. OR BASIC REQUIREMENT OR INDIVIDUAL OCCUPATIONAL REQUIREMENT: I have successfully completed a 4-year course of study leading to a bachelor's degree (NOTE: You must submit a copy of your official transcripts). OR In addition to meeting the basic requirement above, to qualify for this position you must also meet the qualification requirements listed below: I have equivalent combinations of successfully completed education and specialized experience directly related to the work of the position as outlined above that meets the requirements of the position. NOTE: You must submit a copy of your transcripts. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas: Knowledge of comprehensive child development requirements, policies, procedures, and processes. Knowledge of appropriate early childhood guidance practices, techniques, and programs. Knowledge of physical, intellectual, social, emotional, and nutritional stages of development of young children in applying basic child development principles, concepts, practices to perform CDC operation assignments. Skill in communicating factual and procedural information clearly, orally and in writing. Ability to adapt planned activities for children's individual skills. Ability to ensure the safety and hygiene of children through constant supervision, effective arrangement of space and proper management of equipment. Ability to analyze problems to identify significant factors, gather pertinent data, and recognize solutions. Ability and skill to lead subordinate employees and foster effective working relationship with others. PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week. VOLUNTEER WORK EXPERIENCE: Refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service Programs (i.e., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student and social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge and skills that can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
