GOLF COURSE SUPERINTENDENT

About the position: This is a NAF Career Program position assigned to Tinker, AFB, OK. This is a Regular Full Time (RFT) position with benefits (medical, dental, life insurance, retirement, 401(k), and annual/sick leave.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if the position allows for qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Qualifying Experience: Progressively responsible experience in golf course maintenance, which provides a technical knowledge of turf propagation, cultivation, course equipment and mechanics, irrigation and drainage systems and controls, horticulture, and insect/pest control and various turf diseases and remedies. Requires knowledge of personnel management principles and policies sufficient to supervise and direct a staff of ground maintenance employees. Knowledge of grass seeds and sprigs, plant nutritional products, plant control products, and soil and sand mixtures. Knowledge of golf course construction and golfing techniques. Possession of a Class A rating from the Golf Course Superintendent's Associate of America is highly desirable. Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing. Requires current state and/or Federal certification or licensing as a pesticide applicator.
