TRAFFIC MANAGEMENT SPECIALIST

This position is for a TRAFFIC MANAGEMENT SPECIALIST, PD# D2422000, part of the Nevada Air National Guard. The purpose of this position is to serve as a Distribution Traffic Management Specialist, which provides technical expertise, support and execution relating to the movement of equipment, supplies, and personnel for both peacetime and wartime. Manages, directs, develops, plans, and analyzes Deployment and Distribution programs.

GENERAL EXPERIENCE: Must possess the following minimum experience: Experience that provided a general knowledge and under standing of traffic or transportation programs or operations. OR A bachelors or masters degree with a major in any of the following fields: accounting, business administration, business or commercial law, commerce, economics, engineering, finance, industrial management, statistics, traffic management, transportation, motor mechanics, or other fields related to the position. OR Possession of a certificate as Certified Member, American Society of Transportation and Logistics meets the requirements for GS-5. Persons with such certificates may also qualify for higher grade levels based on their education and/or experience. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Must possess 1-year specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade; experience, education, or training, involving the movement of freight or passengers and determining transportation and operating costs; experience participating in the direction and coordination of traffic management functions; experience interpreting and providing routine advice on carrier tariffs and related routing guides; interpreting regulations/requirements and developing local policies to implement changes effectively; experience applying applicable Federal, State, and local laws and regulations concerning transportation and traffic procedures; experience preparing reports and recommendations involving appeals, special permits, adjustments in rates and charges; experience which involved negotiations with carriers on individual shipments or traffic movement; experience in making effective presentations both orally and in writing.
