***ACCESS TO MEDICAL AND DENTAL CARE IN JAPAN IS EXTREMELY LIMITED. Please see Additional Information section below.*** You will serve as a FIRE CHIEF of COMMANDER, NAVAL REGION JAPAN.

**Qualifications:**
Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-13 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: managing, planning and directing fire protection/prevention trainings, inspections, and programs AND preparing annual budgetary plans. Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. Conditions of Employment continued: Must possess and maintain the following certifications issued by the Department of Defense (DoD), International Fire Service Accreditation Congress (IFSAC) or ProBoard: FIRE OFFICER IV, FIRE INSPECTOR II, FIRE INSTRUCTOR II and HAZARDOUS MATERIAL INCIDENT COMMANDER. (You must submit a copy of your certificate in your application package. Failure to provide the required document will result to ineligible rating.) You will be required to obtain and maintain a current valid United States driver's license, host nation license and successful completion of an Emergency Vehicle Operators Course. This position requires participation in a physical fitness program and requires an Annual Physical. You must be able to perform fire ground management duties under stress when carrying out the scope of this position. You must be able to maintain alertness, self-control, and emotional stability to lead and direct personnel under conditions of extreme stress. You will be required to work a 60-hour work week with eating and sleeping facilities provided in accordance with general firefighting practices. This position requires a work schedule of four 9-hour days and one 24-hour day shift per week.
