Supply Technician

This position is located in the Medical Supply Distribution (MSD) area of the Logistics Service at the Veterans Affairs Health Care System (VA HCS) in East Orange, NJ.

**Qualifications:**
SELECTIVE PLACEMENT FACTOR (SCREEN-OUT) - Selective Placement Factors (SPF) is a prerequisite to appointment and represents minimum requirements for the position. Applicants who do not meet the SPF are ineligible for further consideration. The SPF for this position is: Requires a current, valid state-issued driver's license for this position. To meet the minimum qualifications for this position, you must meet the following: SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: One (1) full year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level GS-4 in the Federal service that equipped you with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the work of this Supply Technician (Medical) position. Specialized experience includes providing supplies and material to clinical and/or administrative areas of a facility; scanning, bar-coding, receiving, storing and distributing supplies, instruments and other material; pulling stock, replenishing stock and maintaining records on stock levels; monitoring expiration dates; cleaning assigned areas in accordance with regulations and policy; utilizing an automated system to maintain inventory; and answers customer questions regarding supplies and materials. (Note: this experience must be clearly documented on resume(s) to receive credit) ~OR~ EDUCATION SUBSTITUTION (TRANSCRIPTS REQUIRED): Successfully completed 4 years above high school in any field for which high school graduation or the equivalent is the normal prerequisite. This education was obtained in an accredited business, secretarial or technical school, junior college, college or university. If you are qualifying on education, transcripts are required. ~OR~ COMBINATION (TRANSCRIPTS REQUIRED): Possess an equivalent combination of specialized experience and post high school education as described above that demonstrates my ability to perform the duties of this position. Only education in excess of the first 60 semester hours (i.e., beyond the second year) is creditable towards meeting the specialized experience requirement. If you qualify by combination, your experience must be detailed in your resume and transcripts are required. Physical Requirements: The work requires standing and walking during the entire workday, and frequent reaching, bending and lifting of supply packages (occasionally weighing as much as 50 pounds). Work requires pushing loaded carts of medical supplies (weighing in excess of 100+ pounds). With proper assistance, may move heavier items that weigh over 40 pounds.
