INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY SPECIALIST (PLCYPLN/SYSANALYSIS)

This position is part of the Organization of the Joint Chiefs of Staff. The incumbent will serve as the principle advisor on information systems management, provide the staff with technical advice on operations and maintenance of the automated system, as well as, the capabilities of Automated Data Processing equipment and software.

**Qualifications:**
You may qualify at the GS-12, if you fulfill the following qualifications: One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GG-11 grade level in the Federal service: Recognizing IT principles, methods, advancements, policies, systems concepts and analysis, design, development, testing and applications including hardware and software to perform assigned systems/policy planning assignments; Identifying acquisition requirements to serve as a technical representative on IT contracts and review/generate IT procurement packages to ensure acquisition requirement compliance; Recognizing management requirements sufficient to render recommendations on the development of new software vs. purchase of off-the-shelf (COTS) programs; Understanding computer system design, prototypes, and computer applications and interact with specialists in design and development processes. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. In addition to meeting qualifications, your application package must reflect the applicable experience to meet the Individual Occupational Requirements for the series. Experience must be IT related; the experience may be demonstrated by paid or unpaid experience and/or completion of specific, intensive training (for example, IT certification), as appropriate. For all positions individuals must have IT-related experience demonstrating each of the four competencies listed below. Substitution of education may not be used in lieu of specialized experience for this grade level.
