Job Description

THIS IS A NATIONAL GUARD TITLE 32 EXCEPTED SERVICE POSITION. This position is to exercise second level supervisory and managerial authorities over the wing Inspector General (IG) office. Serves as the Inspector General (IG) and is required to demonstrate a substantial breadth of experience, exceptional maturity, and demonstrated sound judgment. DEFINITION OF AREA(S) OF CONSIDERATION: Area 1 = Officer and Enlisted members of the Louisiana Air National Guard.

**Qualifications:**
GENERAL EXPERIENCE: Must possess the experience, education, or training which has provided the applicant with skill in collecting and analyzing data effectively, efficiently, and accurately; knowledge of applicable laws, directives, regulations, policies, and procedures; skill in interpersonal communications, empathy, and effective listening; ability to organize thoughts, research materials, and manage case projects; skill in comprehending and interpreting directives and laws; ability to enunciate without impediment of speech that would interfere or prohibit effective communications; ability to write reports and presentation formats; and ability to communicate orally and in writing- clearly and effectively. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Must possess at least One (1) year of specialized experiences at the GS-12 level; AND/OR at least Thirty-six (36) months experience, education, or training using quantitative and qualitative techniques for analyzing and measuring the effectiveness, efficiency, and productivity of administrative and technical programs; experience developing the mission and work processes of programs throughout the military organization and multi-level agencies; experience in analytical and investigative techniques. CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT & NOTES: 1. This position requires a secret security clearance; the incumbent of this position must obtain and maintain a secret clearance. Work may require access to higher classified information. Must be able to obtain and maintain the appropriate security clearance. 2. This position is covered by the Domestic Violence Misdemeanor Amendment (30 Sep 96) of the Gun Control Act (Lautenberg Amendment) of 1968. An individual convicted of a qualifying crime of domestic violence may not perform the duties of this position. 3. Employee will be required to wear and use personal protective equipment as required and provided by the employer. 4. This is a ANG Title 32 Excepted Service National Guard position requiring Military Membership in the State Air National Guard. 5. Ability to establish effective professional working relationships with coworkers and customers, contributing to a cooperative working environment and successful accomplishment of the mission. 6. Irregular and/or overtime (compensatory) hours may be required to support operational requirements or contingencies or may be required to work hours outside of the normal duty day. 7. May be required to travel by car, in military and/or commercial aircraft, and by other means of transportation as appropriate to perform temporary duty assignments. 8. This is a Testing Designated Position (TDP). The employee is subject to random drug testing. Pre-employment drug testing and participation in random drug testing is a condition of employment. Note: The caveat is that the States, Territories, and the District of Columbia cannot drug test until a drug free workplace policy has been established and approved by the United States Department of Health and Human Services. 9. IAW AF guidance, incumbent must complete the wing Inspector General Training Course Inspections (IGTC-I) within 180 days of appointment; must complete Inspector General Training Course Complaints Resolution (IGTC-Q) within 180 days of appointment; and IG appointees for nuclear-capable units will complete the USAF Nuclear Inspector Course within 180 days of assignment. Successful completion of other courses will be accomplished IAW applicable DoD, AF, and National Guard Bureau regulations. Recommend completion of the NGB/IG Advanced Course within one year of appointment.
