About the Position: Responsible for the installation, repair and testing of airborne electronic systems, including radio and radar navigation systems, radar altimeter systems and instrumentation systems, identification transponder systems and radio communication systems tests stability control, augmentation systems (SCAS) and Automatic Flight Control Systems (AFCS).

Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of a(n) Electronics Mechanic without more than normal supervision. I have the ability to perform common Electronics Mechanic tasks including install, modify, remove, and replace a variety of airborne electronic systems, including radio and radar navigation systems, radar altimeter systems, radio and radar instrumentation systems, identification transponders systems, and radio communication systems, tests stability control, augmentation systems (SCAS) and Automatic Flight Control Systems (AFCS) utilizing automated test equipment to troubleshoot components and other electronics equipment. Perform operational and preventive checks and alignments on aircraft flight controls, stabilization systems, avionics and controlled cryptographic equipment. Tests systems by performing complete functional check. Assembles completely new configuration of avionics, systems, or accessories and remounts modified equipment. During initial test and reinstallation of equipment, troubleshoots the entire system, particularly the cabling, harness, control and junction boxes, power distribution systems, and power conversion accessories. Troubleshoots equipment and systems by study and application of standards and specifications, and schematic wiring diagrams. Performs operational tests of all equipment and systems after installation. I work under normal supervision of a work leader or journey-level employee. - Failure to meet this Screen Out Element will result in an ineligible rating. Ability To Do The Work Of The Position Without More Than Normal Supervision (Screen-out Element) Ability To Use Hand and Power Tools - Electronics Ingenuity (Ability To Suggest and Apply New Methods) Knowledge of Equipment Assembly, Installation, Repair, etc. Routine Maintenance Theory of Electronics Trouble shooting (Electronic Equipment) Use of Test Equipment: Electronics PHYSICAL EFFORT: Makes repairs from work stands where parts are difficult to reach. Required to climb, stand, stoop, bend, stretch and work in tiring and uncomfortable positions. May be required to lift parts and equipment that weigh up to 20 pounds; occasionally may lift items weighing up to 50 pounds. WORKING CONDITIONS: Work is performed inside or outside. Inside areas may be drafty and noisy. Incumbent is subject to injuries such as electric shock, cuts and bruises, as well as burns caused by electrical or RF energy. May be required to wear protective clothing and equipment.
