SHIPS MECHANICAL & PIPPING SYSTEMS INSPECTOR

You will serve as a SHIPS MECHANICAL & PIPPING SYSTEMS INSPECTOR in the Non-Nuclear Inspections Branch (Code 133.1), Non-Nuclear Inspection Division (Code 133), Quality Assurance Office (Code 130), of NORFOLK NAVAL SHIPYARD.

This job has a screen-out element which will be used to determine minimum eligibility for this job. Applicants who do not receive a minimum of two points on the screen-out element(s) will be found ineligible. The Screen-out Element for this position is: ABILITY TO INSPECT Experience performing inspections in accordance with Technical Work Documents, Design Drawings, Engineering Test, process Instructions, Military Specifications, and Manufactures Instructions Books. Experience conducting a witness, shop, and shipboard test to verify, and document material, component, equipment, and system conformance to rigid specifications for satisfactory operational performance. Experience mechanical piping and sound isolation inspections on nuclear submarines and nuclear/nonnuclear surface ships. Experience maintaining SUBSAFE components, controlled assemblies, QA forms and Level 1 material. Experience performing in-process inspections at various checkpoints during the removal, disassembly, repair, assembly and installation of systems and associated components/equipment. Experience interpreting and applying technical requirements of blueprints, design sketches, military specifications, and manufactures instructions Applicants must meet the requirements of the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Job Qualification Handbook for Trades and Labor Occupations.
