We're looking for a Software Engineer (Kotlin, Java) with strong Kotlin (or Java and willing to learn Kotlin) skills to join our Capacity Management team in the Demand Division. The Capacity Management team builds and runs the systems that determine how seats are allocated, priced, and managed across Flix. We handle high-throughput, real-time data pipelines and event-driven microservices that keep operations running smoothly, even under unexpected conditions. 
As a Software Engineer at Flix, you can make an impact by working on systems that directly impact how millions of passengers book seats and how Flix optimizes capacity across its global network, at scale, in real time.

<li style="font-size: 12pt;">Languages & Frameworks: Kotlin, Spring Boot, Akka/Pekko </li>
<li style="font-size: 12pt;">Data & Messaging: PostgreSQL, Kafka, Event Sourcing, CQRS </li>
<li style="font-size: 12pt;">Infrastructure: AWS, Kubernetes (K8s), Docker </li>

About the Role
<ul>
<li style="font-size: 12pt;">Work in a cross-functional and self-organized team, which develops software related to our e-commerce business</li>
<li style="font-size: 12pt;">Develop microservices meant to assist in managing the capacity of various capacitive-sensitive products </li>
<li style="font-size: 12pt;">Analyze, propose, and drive technology improvements</li>
<li style="font-size: 12pt;">Uphold engineering quality through code reviews, testing, and thoughtful design decisions </li>
<li style="font-size: 12pt;">Use AI tools such as Claude Code and Copilot conscientiously to assist in faster and higher-quality development</li>
<li style="font-size: 12pt;">Take ownership of features end-to-end, from design and implementation through to production, while also contributing to the continuous improvement of our existing systems</li>
</ul>
About You
<ul>
<li style="font-size: 12pt;">3–5 years of experience building production-grade backend systems, with Java or preferably using Kotlin </li>
<li style="font-size: 12pt;">Comfortable making technical decisions independently </li>
<li style="font-size: 12pt;">Good understanding of OOP and Software Design Patterns </li>
<li style="font-size: 12pt;">Experience designing and working with relational databases such as PostgreSQL </li>
<li style="font-size: 12pt;">Good knowledge of testing principles </li>
<li style="font-size: 12pt;">Familiar with CI/CD and deploying to production </li>
<li style="font-size: 12pt;">Strong written and verbal communication skills in English are a must </li>
<li style="font-size: 12pt;">You value open communication, constructive feedback, and shared ownership of outcomes </li>
</ul>
Nice to have – you'll stand out if you also have: 
<ul>
<li style="font-size: 12pt;">Experience with Akka/Pekko </li>
<li style="font-size: 12pt;">Experience running containerized applications (Docker, Kubernetes) </li>
<li style="font-size: 12pt;">Understanding of Kafka-like message brokers and streaming patterns </li>
<li style="font-size: 12pt;">Hands-on experience with event-driven architecture principles (event sourcing, CQRS) applied within a microservices ecosystem  </li>
<li style="font-size: 12pt;">Familiar with cloud providers (especially AWS) </li>
</ul>
