Job Description

You will serve as a MARINE MACHINERY MECHANIC SUPERVISOR I in the Mechanical Shop (Code 930), Production Resources Department Manager (Code 901), Production Resources Department (Code 900) of NORFOLK NAVAL SHIPYARD.

Qualification requirements emphasis is on quality of experience, not necessarily the length of time. Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the job elements and screen out listed below. This job has a screen-out element which will be used to determine minimum eligibility for this job. Applicants who do not receive a minimum of two points on the screen-out element(s) will be found ineligible. The Screen-out Element for this position is: ABILITY TO LEAD OR SUPERVISE Applying knowledge of Submarines and/or Surface Ship systems, components, comportments and tanks, working in a formal marine machinery mechanic trade. Applying knowledge of the Advanced Industrial Management (AIM) processes. Experience planning the use of workers, equipment, facilities, materials and tools provided through the (AIM) process for assigned units of work. Monitoring the status of assigned work in relation to the overall scheduled requirements including unanticipated or emergency requirements. Providing technical direction to subordinate workers the marine machinery mechanic trade. Providing general knowledge of work techniques, methods, processes and equipment used by journeymen in any other shipyard trade.
