Job Description

THIS IS A NATIONAL GUARD TITLE 32 EXCEPTED SERVICE POSITION. This National Guard position is for a Fabrication Supervisor, Position Description Number D0789000 and is part of the 158th Maintenance Squadron of the Vermont Air National Guard. **This position is also advertised to Active Guard Reserve Airmen under announcement number MVA AF 26-12

**Qualifications:**
OPEN AREAS OF CONSIDERATION: AREA 1, 2 Area I: All current On-board Permanent and Indefinite Dual Status 32 and Title 5 (Competitive and Excepted) Technicians (Tenure: 1-Career, 2-Conditional, 3-Indefinite) - Only those Vermont National Guard members who are in permanent or indefinite technician status as a result of being competitively hired within that National Guard component applying for a position within the component which they are currently employed. Area II: All Members of the Vermont Air National Guard. Military Grade: Enlisted: MSgt/E7 through SMSgt/E8 Minimum Requirements: WS - Experience or training which demonstrates that the candidate can organize assignments for subordinates, estimate material and manpower needed for specific jobs; able to explain manuals and work procedures; and to prepare production records, work records and reports. Specialized Experience: Coordinates work with supporting or related work functions controlled by other supervisors. Experience or training which demonstrates the ability to use all types of hand tools, and measuring equipment related to this occupational series. Experience demonstrating the ability to set up and operate machining tools and using hand tools to make or repair parts, tools, gauges, models, patterns, mechanisms, and machines. In addition to the journeyman level knowledge, experience which demonstrates the ability to plan, direct, and organize work assignments for lower grade personnel. Experience which required the review of work requirements and establish priorities to meet deadlines. Experience that provided knowledge of various lines of work performed by this function. Experience which demonstrates the ability to supervise or the potential to perform such duties as evidenced by the ability to communicate knowledge of general supervisory concepts, and knowledge of shop processes. Experience in adapting existing equipment and techniques to new situations. Quality of Experience: Length of time is not of itself qualifying. Candidates' experience should be evaluated based on duties performed rather than strictly on the rank of the individual; however, established compatibility criteria/assignments must be followed. The applicant's record of experience and/or training must show possession of the knowledge, skills and abilities needed to fully perform the duties of the position. Your qualifications will be evaluated on the following knowledge, skills, abilities and other characteristics: -Knowledge required to explain work requirements; recommends individuals for vacancies, promotions or reassignments; counsels employees and adjusts informal complaints and grievances with workers and union representatives; and maintains production reports and establishes performance standards. -Skill in providing general instructions, standard procedures, overall priorities and policies and relies upon the incumbent to control work operations and accomplish an adequate quantity and quality of work -Ability To Lead Or Supervise -Ability To Provide Production Support Services -Ability to supervise a variety of occupations including Machinist, WG-3414-111 Sheet Metal Mechanic, WG-3806-101 Fabric Worker, WG-3105-091 and Nondestructive Tester, WG-3705-10. PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week. VOLUNTEER WORK EXPERIENCE: Refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service Programs (i.e., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student and social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge and skills that can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Please be advised: 1.
