Job Description
This position is located with the Bureau of Indian Affairs, District 4-Ute Mountain Ute Detention in Towaoc, Colorado. This is an OPEN CONTINUOUS ANNOUNCEMENT and will remain open until 06/08/2026. The initial cut-off for referral of eligible applications will be 04/22/2026 followed by eligible applications received after that date will be referred every two weeks as additional vacancies occur on an as-needed basis until positions are filled.
**Qualifications:**
EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS: (OPM Operating Manual, Qualification Standards ). Applicants must meet the qualification requirements contained in the OPM Standards, OPM Federal Wage System Qualifications. For this position, the job element method is used to match what the applicant can do against what the work calls for, meaning the knowledge skills , and abilities of applicants compared with the knowledge, skills, and abilities (called Job Elements) needed for success. Applicants must have sufficient training and experience to be trusted to perform duties on their initiative under general supervision .While no specific amount of experience is required, you must show that you possess the knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the duties of the position. Applicants will be rated on the following Job Elements: Ability to Do the Work of the Position without More Than Normal Supervision (screen-out). Ability to Interpret Instructions, Specifications, etc. (Other Than Blue Print Reading) Ability to Use and Maintain Tools and Equipment Dexterity and Safety Knowledge of Materials Work Practices (includes keeping things neat, clean and in order) Physical Effort: May be required to perform heavy work, such as scouring and scrubbing large size cooking utensils and pushing heavy carts and trucks in unloading, storing, and delivering supplies. May be required to work on ladders and use powered cleaning equipment. Frequently lifts or moves objects weighing up to 40 pounds. Will be standing for prolong hours. Working Conditions: The work is performed in the detention center under high stressful situations. The work is performed in kitchen areas where the steam and heat from cooking and dishwashing equipment often cause uncomfortably high temperatures and humidity. The work area is well lighted but usually noisy from food service activities, and there is danger of slipping on floors where food or beverages have been dropped, Regularly exposed to hot liquids, sharp cutting blades, hot working surfaces, and extreme temperature changes when entering walk-in refrigeration or freezing units. All qualification requirements must be met by the closing date of this announcement. Additional selections may be made from this announcement if identical vacancies occur in the same location within 90 days from the closing date.
