Job Description
The Office of the Chief Information Officer (OCIO) serves as the IT hub of the U.S. Department of Labor. We develop, maintain and protect IT solutions and data across our 27 agencies to enable mission outcomes through technology and service. OCIO continually enhances federal IT and digital capability with a focus on cybersecurity and customer experience to serve America's wage earners, job seekers and retirees.
**Qualifications:**
Applicants must have 52 weeks of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level, GS-09 in the Federal Service. Specialized Experience is the experience that equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities (KSA's) to perform the duties of the position successfully, and that is typically in or related to the position to be filled. To be creditable, specialized experience must have been equivalent to at least the next lower grade level. Applicants must meet all of the statements below to be found qualified. Qualifying specialized experience for GS-11 includes: Experience assisting with the implementation and maintenance of basic network systems and configurations, including monitoring performance and resolving common issues under supervision; and Knowledge of fundamental cybersecurity principles, including basic risk assessment, routine vulnerability scans, and adherence to established security protocols within a federal or corporate IT environment; and Ability to provide technical support for network-related projects, including assisting in troubleshooting, documenting technical procedures, and collaborating with team members to meet project objectives. In addition to the above specialized experience, individuals must have IT-related experience demonstrating each of the four competencies listed below. 1.Attention to Detail - Is thorough when performing work and conscientious about attending to detail .2.Customer Service - Works with clients and customers (that is, any individuals who use or receive the services or products that your work unit produces, including the general public, individuals who work in the agency, other agencies, or organizations outside the Government) to assess their needs, provide information or assistance, resolve their problems, or satisfy their expectations; knows about available products and services; is committed to providing quality products and services. 3. Oral Communication - Expresses information (for example, ideas or facts) to individuals or groups effectively, taking into account the audience and nature of the information (for example, technical, sensitive, controversial); makes clear and convincing oral presentations; listens to others, attends to nonverbal cues, and responds appropriately. 4.Problem Solving - Identifies problems; determines accuracy and relevance of information; uses sound judgment to generate and evaluate alternatives, and to make recommendations. OR EDUCATION: Ph.D or equivalent Doctoral degree OR 3 full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a Ph.D. or equivalent Doctoral degree in computer science, engineering, information science, information systems management, mathematics, operations research, statistics, or technology management or degree that provided a minimum of 24 semester hours in one or more of the fields identified above and required the development or adaptation of applications, systems or networks.
