Public Affairs Specialist

As a Public Affairs Specialist, you will serve as a key advisor to agency leadership on legislative and congressional matters, providing strategic counsel and coordinating communications with Members of Congress, congressional committees, and their staff. This position ensures the agency's activities, priorities, and concerns are effectively communicated to legislative stakeholders while fostering positive relationships and promoting transparency.

**Qualifications:**
You must meet the following requirements by the closing date of this announcement. Specialized Experience for the GS-13 grade level is one year (52 full weeks) of experience at the GS-12 level, or equivalent, that has equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position. Specialized experience for this position includes: - Planning, designing and executing a Congressional/Legislative program to convey information on Agency or Organization programs; AND - Establishes and maintains working relationships with congressional committees and staff; AND - Manages agency response to congressional requests and agency participation in congressional hearings pertaining to Agency or Organization's program; AND - Monitors and reports on pending legislation and keeps informed on all matters affecting agency programs and analyzes new developments for Congressional and Legislative affairs implications. Time-in-Grade: In addition to the above requirements, you must meet the following time-in-grade requirement, if applicable: For the GS-13, you must have been at the GS-12 level for 52 weeks. Time After Competitive Appointment: Candidates who are current Federal employees serving on a non-temporary competitive appointment must have served at least three months in that appointment.
